You will need
- System Administrator’s Name, Email and Phone Number
- Address where devices are installed (City, State, Zip)
- Name of Resident
- DOB of Resident
- Email of Resident
- Phone Number of Resident
- Gender of Resident
- Caregiver’s Name, Email, and Mobile Phone number (up to 4)
- Wi-Fi name and password
- Serial Number of Fall Detection Device(s)
- Room Name where device is installed
- Length and Width of room
- Distance from the device to the left of the room
Best Practices
- Mount the device on the required wall using the adhesive strips in the kit.
- It is required to install the devices at a height of 5ft (1.5m) from the floor to the center of the device.
- We support a 13’X13’ (4X4m) range for wall installations and a 13’X16’4” (4X5m) range for ceiling-installed devices.
- Devices should not be located near any metal devices (TVs, monitoring systems, breathing machines etc.).
- Standard devices need to be close to an outlet.
- The device needs to have a strong WiFi signal.
- The device needs to have a direct line of sight to all the parts of the room (ie: not behind a bookcase or around the corner from the room). Devices should not be blocked by doors, walls, shelving.
- The device needs to be mounted on a wall and not a window, a tv, a piece of furniture, etc.

Keep Out Zones
- Areas in the room where someone may sit or lay (bed, sofa, chair) that would be interpreted as a fall, unless this area is designated to be excluded from fall detection.
- You will be asked to identify the keep out zones during set-up in the app.
- Note, if the furniture in the room is moved, the keep out zones will need to be updated for the device to accurately detect falls.
Terminologies
Serial Number
The primary way we identify devices. Each number starts with “VXTBB….” followed by a string of 10 numbers and letters. The number is located on the back of each device.
App Pairing
Connecting the device via bluetooth to the phone where the installation will be done.
Adhesive Strips
The special pieces of tape that stick the device to the wall on a Standard Vayyar.
Installation App
The application you download to your phone, “WellAware Care App”.
Arena
The area where the detector looks for active falls.
Arena Size
The length and width of the room.
Mounting
Attaching the device to the wall or ceiling.
Keep Out Zone
An area where someone may sit or lay, this would be interpreted as a fall, unless this area has been designated to. be excluded from fall detection. For example, you would want to identify a bed or sofa as a keep out zone to prevent false falls.
Fall Detected
The system has detected someone in a prone position and has started the alert clock, giving that person enough time to recover from the fall. At 60 Seconds the fall is confirmed.
Fall Confirmed
When a device has detected a fall and has sent a notification to the dashboard and a text message to the specified caregivers after 90 seconds of a detected fall.
Have Any Questions
Vayyar Home uses harmless 4D imaging radio frequency waves to continuously monitor the room. It recognizes a change to a person’s height profile to understand when they have dropped from a standing or sitting position to a prone position.
Yes. Once the person’s height profile changes, a fall is detected.
Yes. Unlike simple gyro meters, Vayyar Home’s 4D imaging technology does not rely on the speed or acceleration of a fall. Whenever a person’s height profile indicates that they have transitioned from a vertical to a horizontal position, a fall is detected.
The person has to be standing for 4 seconds beforehand, in order for a fall to be captured. When sitting down, as long as the device sees that the person tried to get up beforehand, a fall will be captured.
When Vayyar Home confirms a fall, it automatically sends a fall alert notification to the senior care platform. Alerts are registered in the platform and a SMS text message is sent to the registered caregiver(s).
Vayyar Home maintains privacy at all times. The sensors distinguish between different people but do so anonymously, without collecting any personal information. The sensors do not identify or log which person or people are in the room. The platform is HIPAA compliant.
The sensors use radio frequency waves and are therefore unaffected by lighting conditions. Vayyar Home monitors seniors and residents in dimly lit rooms, complete darkness, steam, and smoke.
Yes. Pets are not compatible with the Vayyar Home and can both interfere with falls and cause false alerts.
Larger pets such as cats and dogs will trigger false alarms. WellAware Care does not support fall detection in rooms with pets.
The device can tell of there is more than one person in the monitoring area/room. it cannot differentiate between targets. An event is logged in the Vayyar history that multiple people are detected in the room. The platform has the capability to send an alert if multiple people are present.
Vayyar Home detects falls only when a person is alone in the room where the device is installed (bedroom, bathroom, living room, etc.). If there is another person in the room when a person falls, the device will not alert for a fall. The other person will call for help so an alert would be redundant.
Vayyar Home does not support environments containing heavy metal objects, such as storage rooms with metal shelving or offices with filing cabinets. We do not advise placing the Vayyar Home over stairs, as it will not track people going up or down them. Kitchen installations can also be problematic due to reflections from the stove, dishwasher, and microwave.
Vayyar Home offers several flexible installation options. The attached power cord can be hidden from view using standard cord covers or concealers. In addition, we offer a Mounting Accessory kit that allows you to place the Vayyar Home either on the wall or ceiling using the provided bracket or depressed into the wall for a slimmer profile. Both installation options for the Mounting Accessory requires you to connect a 12v or 24v power supply from inside the wall, for a seamless installation with no visible cords.
Vayyar Home can be installed on either the wall (standard) or wall/ceiling (dry contact). We support a 13’X13’ (4X4m) range for wall installations and a 13’X16’4” (4X5m) range for ceiling-installed devices, which can also be positioned using the Mounting Accessory for a more seamless resident experience.
This depends on the square feet or size of the room. There is no real limitation, but we would not suggest overlapping the room among devices. In order to remove any blind spots, we recommend making sure you have full coverage of the residence.
Once a person is on the floor in the prone position, a ‘timer’ starts on the device, at 60 seconds the device will confirm a fall and start beeping. At 90 seconds (remaining on the floor), the device will send fall alerts.
Answer 1: Vayyar Home is preconfigured with 3 ‘fall stages’ to ensure accuracy in detecting, confirming, and alerting for falls:
Stage 1 – Fall Detected: When Vayyar Home detects that a person is on the floor, it grants them a 45-second ‘grace period’ to stand up in order to differentiate between a real fall and someone lying on the ground deliberately, such as reaching for an item under the sofa.
Stage 2 – Fall Confirmed: If the person does not get up within 60 seconds of the start of the Fall Detected stage, an audible noise is triggered by the device.
Stage 3 – Calling Stage: If, after 90 seconds of lying on the floor, the person has not gotten up, the device will send an alert to the caregiver/nursing staff, notifying them that a fall has occurred, and the person needs assistance. In addition, the device will emit an audible buzzing noise.
Answer 2: The 90 seconds from the Fall Detected to the Calling stage reduces ‘alarm fatigue’ caused by many other fall detection solutions and has been defined based on feedback from our customers’ nursing staff.
An alert remains registered in the WellAware Care system until it is cleared manually. Only caregivers are authorized to clear alerts. If another alert is registered before an active alert is cleared, the previous alert is moved to the “Past Alert” section for data collection.
